Buying local helps us all

01/04/2014 19:03

In our quest for involving the community, we thought we'd create a list of local businesses worth checking out. C'mon! Who wants to shop at and encourage something like Walmart?

Instead, we invite you to help out these locals. Your money will go to someone you talk to face-to-face, whose kids play soccer with yours, not  into the pockets of some rich guy in another country polluting the planet. Isn't that worth an extra 50 cents?

Generation Iron Fitness Center - helpful staff and so many different weight machines you have to lose weight to squeeze between them!

Legal Grounds Coffee - Good food and great staff... and as a bonus... this is where the Fraser Valley Atheists, Skeptics, and Humanists meet every Sunday at noon, in the conference room. Great people and always lively conversation.

Local photographer Christina Dutkowski - Her inspiring work speaks for itself. Just take a look.

Grab-A-Java Coffee House - Coffee roasted right in Mission, and imported by owner Dave Perritt himself. He supports small cooperative farms that are often run by women. You cannot find a more ethical- or more tasty- coffee. Try the single origin from Rwanda.

The Sweet Spot Cafe - The only muffins I have ever tasted that I like better than

my own homemade.

Rockweld Farm - BCSPCA approved, ethically raised, organically fed, absolutely

the most flavourful chicken and eggs around.
